Pimp my Lesson Revisited

I enjoyed Pimp my Lesson very much. I gained a lot from brainstorming with my peers, and I decided  to incorporate  a new app called “educreation” into my class.  It worked really well!
I taught my 3rd Graders a song called “Going to the Market.” The song is about a farmer who goes to the market and buys five different  kinds of animals. We learned the vocabulary, meaning and melody of the song. Then the students were assigned to use the app “educreation.” They wrote, drew, and recorded themselves and shared their creations with the class. Everyone was engaged and you could feel the energy in the classroom!!!
My biggest takeaway from the lesson was that the students enjoyed using technology and I will definitely incorporate it again in my future lesson plans!

Programming With Sphero

Sphero is a spherical robot toy controlled by a smartphone or tablet. Using an iPad running the Macrolab app, I was able to control my own Sphero and direct it around the room we were in. Sphero reacts to the movements you make on your tablet, and I was able to move it forwards, backwards, in circles, and at different speeds. A cool function of the Sphero is that it changes color to make it easier to determine which tablet it is connected to.

Being able to remote control a robot using an app is a very fun and interesting idea, and it may be an experience that I can reward my students with later on in the semester.

Thank you Stacey for giving me this wonderful opportunity and I hope to be back down in the lab with my students soon.

Creating my Blog!

Creating a new blog is always exciting, because I get to customize it exactly the way I want. My blog is my own personal piece of the internet, and I hope my fellow Tech Scouts will enjoy the work I put on here! I'm looking forward to documenting all of my upcoming experiences on this blog and cannot wait to see how I can incorporate different types of technology into my classroom.
